King David was in a hard place. He prayed, "The enemy pursues me. He crushes me to the ground. He makes me dwell in darkness, like those long dead. My spirit grows faint within me and my heart within me is dismayed."
And it is at that point that he remembers to remember.
"I remember the days of long ago, I meditate on the work of your hands and consider what your hands have done."
When we remember the days of long ago, we remember that God has been and will be faithful.
